Thank you Switzerland!

We are all used to the idea of criminals endeavouring to download malicious code to our computers in order to "sniff out" our banking credentials or other important information to gain unlawful access to what is ours. But now it appears that the very act of depressing a key and the corresponding electromagnetic signal created with each key depression may be able to be intercepted, interpreted and used against us.

Swiss "security researches" have developed four attacks that are said to work on a variety of keyboard types up to a distance of 20 metres! This means of course that potentially we could be spied on by our colleagues (or anyone else for that matter) sitting within a shared office space, in the car park or foyer of the office.

No doubt this will lead to the development of special keyboards to suppress the signals or to devices that randomly produce similar signals in to the ether in order disguise the real thing. (Must remember to Patent that one!).

This latest threat should serve as a reminder to us all to be aware that the world of the Internet and Networks in general is an ever evolving one, and one should never become complacent.
