Here we go again.
Yet another loss of of data, this time on an unencrypted hard drive in the "capable" hands of EDS, the MoD's largest contractor.
Perhaps the disc fell down the back of the sofa where the lost nuclear material fell that went missing from the nuclear submarine dock yard all those years ago!
The loss of data isn't as bad as loosing nuclear material but the fall-out for the MoD and the Government should be just as grave. Lucky for them the world economy is shrinking before our eyes and this latest news probably won't cause that much political damage.
One thing is certain though. And I'm beginning to sound like a corrupted Mpeg file (the updated version of a scratched record!), is that ALL organisations that have removable media that includes laptops, PDS'a, memory sticks et al, MUST encrypt the data and have STRICT protocols in place, that must include RISK AWARENESS TRAINING.
