Data Leakage: Four Technologies to Protect Content
The loss of sensitive information isn’t just a concern to large
corporations. While there are a multitude of formal state, national,
industry, and international regulations that apply to larger
enterprises, all companies have information that would be damaging to
their reputation and their bottom lines should it become public.
While it might appear that the major risk is from the outside, study after study has confirmed that the largest threats arise from employees or other internal agents (contractors, auditors, and/or partners) who either accidentally or intentionally misuse sensitive or protected information.
The most common way that sensitive information is inadvertently or intentionally leaked is through email, instant messaging, Webmail, and blogging.
In this paper we’re going to discuss how four content scanning technologies can be used to identify sensitive content and prevent its unauthorized and/or unsecured use.
